Yellow pencil nominated project for the 2013 D&AD Student Awards.
The It’s Nice That Brief set the task of finding a way for It’s Nice That to engage with a student audience. I created the Student Network—a website and app that combines social media with a virtual learning environment, to provide a platform for creative students to share, collaborate, develop and learn. It is a powerful internal tool for creative courses, while also acting as a global platform for like minded, creative individuals to share and discuss their work.
As well as giving students the ability to connect online, access their lecture notes, timetable, and project briefs, I also wanted to encourage them to go into studio more often, as this studio culture is a vital, and often neglected part of design and art education. To do this, I have created a check in function, which allows students to find out who is working in the studio at that moment in time, and which lecturers and technical tutors are available. My hope is that this digital platform will work to enhance the offline aspects of education, to create a holistic environment for students to learn.
